6BR Improved. 2nd range trip

All,
67 rounds on a new 29" 8T Brux.
First trip, I fire formed with 29.5 Varget, CCI 450, 105VLD-T, 0.016" off hard jam.
Wish I'd have used more like 30 grains.
Didn't feel like jumping right into the 30.6-31.1 H4895 range others are reporting, as I have limited experience with this powder.
Figured I might as well vary seating depth while conducting a second, more moderate firing.
Have no doubt the spreads will come down and vertical will tune out as I work up to a full charge on the next trip.
Pretty cool to see the velocity climb slowly from 2810 to 2840.
(Went from 2680 to 2730 during the first 34 shots using the mild Varget load.)
Consistency improved from the first to the second target, as well.
For visual reference, the aiming marks are a dime tracing.
Fired at 200 yards. Winds from 1-2 o'clock.

Thanks to all who contribute and make this such a great forum.

That's showing good promise there. I think you are right that it will snug up even more with a touch more powder. That's a good looking rig.

Of note, I'm not sure what you're using to power the Labradar but I found an adapter to use on my Dewalt 20v power tool batteries that seems to last about, forever.

I've tried Berger 108bt and 105 hybrids with 31.0 h4895 with good results at 200 and 300 yards. I haven't chronographed anything but my kestrel applied ballistics dope says its 2910fps. Also, RL15 shot well but is very dirty.

IMO your load is staring you right in the face. You got .017" vertical spread. The horizontal is on you. Gun handling. wind reading, etc. take that load and practice in the wind. Go to matches, reap gold. Nothing to it. Well maybe a little sumthin to it. You would like it to hold together for 10-15 shots though. You have a great start

Stiffer load and jam are recommended for fire forming. Vertical could be you, or perhaps choice of primer. 450 should do it but just mentioning it, should the problem not go away.

Thats a good start at 300 yards, next time do 5 shots will tell you far more than 3 or 10 shots is good
