6BR dies

Hello,

I'm putting together my first 6BR build and I've got a few questions about the dies needed. I want to be able to adjust the neck tension so I'm looking for dies with neck bushings. The Forester and Hornady dies have 0.002" bushing increments, while the Redding has 0.001". I like sleeved seaters like the Forester and Hornady as they seem to keep the bullet better aligned. I also want to have easy adjustment, so a micrometer seater is desired. I plan on shooting no neck turn Lapua cases.

1. Most die manufacturers show "6BR REM" dies, not "6BR Norma" dies. Is a "6BR Rem" die acceptable?

2. What die set should I get? Redding Competition Set,expensive!), Forrester Neck Bushing Set? Redding Sizer and Forester seater?

Thanks,

Doug

Doug, I like to use the Redding "type S" bushing F/L and/or neck die and the Forstner Ultra seating die. If your build is a bolt gun the neck sizer might serve you well, but some shooters will use the F/L die and adjust it accordingly in the press to bump the shoulders back when needed. Just an opionion man. I hope this helps. Bill

Go over to the home page and read the article about the Harrell's sizing dies.

I prefer the Forster Ultra BR seater for 7/8 threaded dies.

According to my information, the Forster bushings are available in 0.001" increments. You should understand that the Forster and Redding bushing neck sizers don't do exactly the same thing.
