6br bullet choice for 200 yard?

my barrel is 1 in 8" twist. I know is not the right twist nor the right cartridge for close range shooting. but I just want to get decent group at 200 yard. what bullet should I use?

btw, my rifle shoot 1/3" on average at 100. but when I move to 200, groups never got less than 1". please help!

thanks in advance.

I'd say drop that powder charge a bit, use CCI 450 primers and try again. I feel 30.5 grains of Varget with the 105-108 family of Bergers is about right with the bullet hard into the lands.

I seem to do fine with 28.5 varget and 105's-Amax, get around 2840 fps, into the lands, Lapua brass.

I concur with what is said here... seat will into lands, but I can tell you from much personal experience and frustration that not every barrel will shoot all bullets well. I have barrels that cannot shoot Scenars to save my soul, yet Bergers are amazing. I was actually very surprised to hear so many people I shoot with that have the same problem with Lapuas, yet I also know shooters that swear by them.

I'd grab a box of SMK's, Bergers, Lapuas and some Amax's and figure out what bullet that barrel likes best. I would bet you a round that CCI 450's, 30.5 of Varget, and one of those bullet choices 20 thou in the lands will tell the whole story.

Don't be afraid to try some of the 65-68 gr Flat base BR Bullets with that 8" twist. Mine loves the Knight 66gr/H-322 combo with it's 8" twist barrel.

You might want to try 80 grain Berger Match bullets. I have a Kreiger 1 in 8.5 .236 bore that shoots the 80 grain bergers very well. My current load is 29.5 grains of VV N-135 and CCI 450's. I also shoot the same bullet in a 12 twist shilen using Varget and have shot 2 inch groups at 600 yards. This seems to be a very easy bullet to load.
