6BR build

I am starting to have a 6BR built. I went with a Bartlein barrel with a 1-8 twist. I am using a 700 trued action (new) with Sako extractor. I really don't want to neck turn the brass. Can someone advise me on the best reamer for Norma or Lapua brass. Barrel will be 28 " with heavy varmint.

+1 on Dave Kiff... Either call him or P.M. him here, on this site... He is an excellent individual with knowledge of reamers etc>>second to none!!

i asked the same question and went with kiff's .2704 neck dia spiral fluted reamer. did not turn blue box lapua and my loaded neck dia is .269...not much clearance here! i was a bit concerned but reading here i felt there was enough clearance to be safe and WOW! what a gun! my gunsmith is very picky and the chamber is perfect. i'v not had to push shoulders back even after multiple firings. i have another 6mmBR by another smith/reamer and the brass has to have shoulder pushback about .001, but is shoots small holes also. spend a little more money on this build and you'll never have any regrets.

I have a deal going with a local gunsmith who is very knowledgeable but I want to be sure I am getting the best bang for the buck. If this deal was not already agreed upon I would take your advice and send it to this gentleman. Again any input would be greatly appreciated.

Talk with Kiff first, than send him a dummy round with the bullet seated where you want it. With 105g+ bullets, seat the bullet with the boattail just clearing the neck shoulder junction. This will avoid any donut problems or brass flow that will cause a varience in neck tension. Get the reamer done right and you will eliminate a lot of problems.

If your gunsmith hasn't yet done the Sako extractor, don't have him do it. It's a waste.

Before you jump, give some thought to the 6 BRX it is a little problem forming brass, but it seems to have the same great accuracy and boosts the MV from 100 to 150 FPS. Obviously this helps a little in riding the wind. One I put together for a club member just shot a 199-13 on the F-Class target at 600. His last shot was the 9. the 13 X's were mostly touching, it really is a great choice.
