6br brass headspace ?

I finally got around to taking a look at this thing, I bought it a handful of months ago and it’s about time to shoot it. The guy I got it from gave me roughly 200 pieces of brass with it.

One box said match ready but I’m seeing huge variances in the brass.
Headspace from 1.155-1.165 for supposedly prepped brass 10k variance
Oal from 1.551-1.572

For un processed brass I’m seeing headspace range from 1.181-1.162

I guess my questions is what would cause such a large difference in headspace between brass. I’m bumping my shoulders back 2-3 thousands in prior rifles and in this lot I’m seeing differences close to 30 thousands.

What to do and where the heck to start, super nice rifle just a little confused. Also noted I have no idea number of firings on this batch of brass

I'm with ya on questioning the source, that's way far from match ready brass.
Maybe take a few pieces that close easy and fire form them so you know exactly what they should be, and then take that measurement and see how many pieces you got that are close At least you'll know for sure.
What brand of brass is this?

It’s all lapua brass

I’m wondering if it was not all specifically for this rifle and was just included. Still scratching my head

Can you just size the excessive ones? Could be that some were prepped and some were just fired with no prep. Might also be some is 1x fire and some are more times fired.

Just my openion. I would throw that so called MATCH brass away and start with New. I get it brass to s expensive but you don't know the firings on it and with that much set back on the shoulders I sure wouldn't want case head separation. Just My 02

I may have diagnosed the pepped brass issue,
Measurement on headspace 1.149-1.152 seems to be over sized slightly, some are sized to 1.156 and they chamber fine.

Time to tackle the un processed brass

I think you got random brass! I would take one of the longest pieces and bump it .001 at time till it will chamber in the gun. Take note for temp setup. Then by new brass to start your competition loads with!
