6br/ best 68gr bullet/.050 freebore

hi there, i have a 6br,1-14", .050 freebore. what is a good 68gr match bullet for this? I have alot of Barts 68gr ultrs but it looks like there is not alot of neck to hold this bullet....am I still
ok? chris

thanks Larry..i`ve been reading that the ppc guys like .030 f.b. or lesswith double ogive bullets like the ultra..i only have about 1/4 of the neck or less holding the ultras in my br.....c

Chris, a good question would be your intended use and just how accurate do you want your rifle to be.

I shot BR for a long time and made my own bullets with an 8 1/2S Ogive.

It is really surprising just how accurate the 75g V Max is which will give you a little more bullet in the case. You can expect to shoot groups in the 2's with the 75g V max. I also have excellent accuracy with the 70g Nosler Ballistic tips and the 70g Sierra Match, but both of them are boat tails.

AA2230 is an excellent powder choice for a combo of extreme accuracy with speed with these bullet weights, but use a primer such as the CCI BR-4 with a thick cup.

Also, play with the seating depth, it is not at all common that a gun like a jam of .010-.030.

Hi Chris, I have a 1:14 with .065" freebore and it will shoot the 65/68gr berger fbhp in th .2's consistently as long as I do my part, and I jump them .010". SPM

Yep....finally got my 6br Cooper,14:1 twist) to shoot.
This is with the 30g of H4895 load suggestion I got from this site. It also Likes 68g Bergers with about a .010 jump, for now). I have not measured group sizes but is usually "one hole".
Big variable was to make sure I moved/ bumped the shoulder about .002 as the chamber was tight! Until I did that, the accuracy was not all that great.

Thanks for the responses...I was not sure if I had enough neck holding the bullet. i did read the write up on the ultras and it said .050 f.b. is what they recomended...i should be able to get alot of n135in this case...thanks again...chris

I shoot .040 FB all the time and have no trubl getting more than enuff shank in the case neck with every popular bullet...,,Bart 66-68--Fowler 66 --Berger 62-68 etc..))....you dont need a bullet dia...that is an old wives tale....if you have .100 or more you will be just fine....Roger
