6BR and Vihtavouri N130

I have a supply of V-N130 powder and would like to try it in the 6BR but I can't find any load data.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks

found a couple in a google search, which according to the data show in this link, produce some very accurate results with light bullets (65gr) and Fed 205M primers.

scroll down towards the bottom of the page, there's 3 or 4 N130 loads. I have no idea how valid that data is, so you might want to confirm they're safe before trying them.

I checked on the Lapua/Vihtavouri load data site and they showed no load data for N130. The did have data for N133 and N135. N130 is considered to be to fast a burning power for bullets 70g and over. N130 might be good fit for bullets in the 55-65 g range.

I tried five by 5-round batches with the 58gn Hornady V-Max rising from 28.3-30.0gn N130. This was in a BR Norma chamber and 1-8" twist 28" Border Barrel, so throated far too long for varmint bullets under 70-75gn.

Groups were OK, but not nearly as good as some combinations and the best load in this barrel, 29.3gn, produced 3,470 fps.

Brass was Lapua, primers Remington 7.5BR and there were no undue pressure signs.

You could probably use the powder for bullets up to around 75gn, but there are much better alternatives.

jefats,

N130 is too fast for a 6br. Ni35 is the best for a 6BR.
