6br/95gr SMK or Berger VLD project question

Am in the process of ordering stuff for a winter project, 6br shooting either the new sierra 95mk or the berger 95 vld. Am ordering a kreiger 1-8.5 OR a 1-9 twist barrel and a PT&G reamer with .050 freebore. Am I on the right track with my barrel twist and freebore?

I`ve had awsome luck with an older 6br using the 95 bergers, the sierra`s should be sweet....chris

My testing was done in an 8.5tw broughton...you definitely shouldnt need any more freebore than that if you only have the 95's in mind.

Nice job testing the sierra`s Jason!! I shot the berger 95`s a few years ago for fun at the Pella, iowa 1k range just at the berm. they hit the clay pidgeons more than the 107`s. They also did very well for me at the VHA jamboree in 06.

I shoot some local 200 yard varmint/score matches here in Iowa. Do you think the sierra`s,95`s) would be a good bullet for this or should i stick to the 68gr f.b.`s in a slow twist? Was told that the boat tail bullets dont do their thing till about 300 yards and beyond.... chris

Speaking for the accuracy of the new Sierra 95's,.... I've shot them in a fast twist PPC, a BR and a 6x47 Lapua, and I can truthfully state that this projectile is not finicky, and tunes very easily in my limited experience.,PPC was a 9", BR was an 8" and the 6x47L was a 7.8") It is repeatably capable,in decent conditions) of giving the single ragged hole groups of sub .2 at 100yd that we all gain so much pleasure in seeing. It seemed to shoot on and off the lands, depending on the rifle. I think this to be an extremely promising bullet for the 600yd Dasher and BR shooters.

,this was based on the first run of 95's, but I suspect this little guy will be a consistent little pill for Sierra.)

I know this isn't the thread, but I'm confused. My 6br reamer has a .060 freebore and I was under the impression the I could only shoot up to 70gr bullets maybe 75gr if I push them. Just when I thought I was getting this stuff I get juked.

Thanks,

SPM
