Went out Groundhog hunting this evening with my Rem 700 Brux 12 twist 6BR. Was watching some long hayfield strips in between the corn rows from on top of this high ridge with my little brother. We glassed the area all around for maybe 20 mins and then I told him I got a Groundpig down near the edge of one of the field strips near the fencerow. I ranged the fence 425yds away with my laser rangefinder. The Groundhog come out a few yards and I got 422yds to the target. I dialed 6moa on my mark4 and had a full value wind coming from 9 o'clock about 10mph so I held the first mil-dot to the right on his head. I had already chambered a round of 87 V-Max into the rifle just waiting to be sparked by the Fed 205 match and Vith N-135. I took a deep breathe and lightly applied on the trigger sending that 87 V-Max out the muzzle at 3100fps hitting the Whistle Pig in the head at 422yds causing instant death. I thought to myself man the vmax in this caliber really hit hard. MarkS was right on about the little 6BR and the 87 VMax. Wow what a combo for Sniping Groundhogs. I have found my new favorite Groundhog Sniper rifle in this little 6mm. I grab it everytime I leave the house now in search of Groundhogs or Coyotes. There is alot to love about instant kills at 400+ yards and hitting so hard with small powder charges that want burn out a barrel in 800rds. Man I just cant wait to be back up on that ridge over seeing the hayfields for my next victim. And by the way MarkS thank you so much for your help. You sure made my summer telln me your input on the 6BR and 87 V- Max.
