6BR, 55gr BlitzKing and VV130

I am a new member on this forum, hope I am posting this where it belongs. I have searched and could not find any loads for 55gr Sierra BlitzKing and VV130.
Has anyone tried this combo? Or would you recommend using another powder?

Where I live, VV is almost the only option of powder. It is possible to get some Hodgdon, IMR and Alliant powders, but unfortunately the price is almost double of what VV costs :-\

Brass is Lapua, I can buy either CCI or Federal primers.

My rifle:
Rem 700 trued
21 inch Hart barrel, 14-twist
6BR Norma .269 neck, zero freebore.

I would try h322,xmr8208 etc and vv130 isn't mentioned in the online VV reloading imformation. Benchmark might be a good choice and if you don't have hot days blc-2 would work as well.

Should work if you can find some load data. My 6BR with 68 and 70 grain bullets likes N135 and will shoot N133 almost as good. I'm sure N133 would work with the 55 grain bullets. Sorry, no load info though. I would try both 133 and 130 before I bought any other powders at twice the price.

I haven't tried the Blitzking but I use the 55 Gr Nosler BT in one of my 6BR rifles and after trying several powder combinations, I found H-322 to give me the tightest groups and lowest SD....If you have some or can get some, I think you will like it. Go to the Hodgdon website and check their recommendations and Nosler has a recommendation for H-322 with the 55 Gr. Bullet on their website also....The 55 Gr Blitzking has a slightly longer bearing surface than the Nosler BT so you may want to start a little lower than the maximum load when you begin testing....Benchmark is very good also and would be my second choice......

Hi ice man,,,you have a unique problem,,,,vitavouri powder is 1/2 as much as Hodgdon and Federal primers available,,,,we all dream of that!!!!,,,,start at 27gr and work up to ~30,,,with bullets under 60 gr,,,Roger

Fannar, I shoot AA2230 and H335 with the 55g Noslers. I would love to try some N130 with the light bullets if I could find it here in the States.

N133 works great with the 68g+ bullets but I would guess that it is slow for the light weight bullets.

So, your thinking is spot on with the N130 for the 55's.

In as far as primers, you need to use thick cup primers to take the pressure. Federal 205's are thin, so in your choices, the CCI450 is a thick cup primer, so is the Rem 7 1/2 and the CCI BR-4. The CCI 450 is a true magnum primer and you may get better groups with the CCI BR-4's.

DON'T USE A THIN CUP PRIMER, you will get holes burnt in your bolt face if you do from ruptured primers.

I would love to track your performance with the 55's and the N130.

Friends who shoot the 55 grain Noslers in their 6BRs have found that 133 is their powder of choice. They have tried several others that also work, but if you are going to shoot VV, that is the one for that weight bullet. The accuracy and velocity are excellent.

Hornady book lists a starting load of 24.9 grains of VVN130 and a max load of 27.4gr with 58gr Vmax bullets, with VVN133 max is 29.3gr. . Velocity is 3300gps with N130 at max load and 3400fps with N133 at max load. Your 55gr BlitzK should do somewhat faster. N133 appears to be the best powder but N130 will work too.
