6br 1-14twist varmint project questions

im getting a sako 75 s/s vamint that started out as a 6ppc 1/14 twist and has been reamed out to .243.

i know it shoots pritty well because im buying it from a friend. im not quite shure exactly how well but it pushes 65gr v max at 3800fps.

anyway i am thinking of having the barrel shortend to around 23" and chambered in 6br shooting the same bullets.

what kind of fps would i get with 65gr v max and a 23" barrel?

do you think that the sako barrel would be good enough for this conversion accuracy wise? i would hope to see consistant .3 at 100

i guess it depends on how well the .243 shoots i might not gain a whole lot just by changing the chambering.???

I think it would be hard pressed to shoot consistent .300" groups Give it a try though you just never know. Good luck brother!! Lee

My 6mmbr is 14 twist and I shoot 66gr bart ultras (from sinclairs) @ 3275 with a mild load of 31grs of accurate 2015. There's a .222 sako at the house that's not free floated and bedded its 100 percent stock and it shoots in the .4s. Those sakos shoot I think you will be in the .3s with a little work

Surprising what the 6BR will do. Mine's a 24" Hart/14" twist, .271"nk, 0 freebore. Best powder in this gun is AA2230, best loads with a 65VMax are doing from 3607-3710. Same powder with 2 different custom 65's, most accuracy is at 3619 to 3708.

dont knock the sako's mate!! i have a sako 75 in .222 allready and one of the guys from the AUS world benchrest team was blown away when i was putting 5 shots in .3 with crap rem brass and nosler BT's!!

i think it will do it . . . . just have to get my load rite!! have you played with hogdon powders? how do the stack up velocity and accuracy wise? was thinking benchmark or varget??
