6AI mking vs berg at 900

Making up my mind what bullet to use in my new F Class 6AI rifle in the ORA and DCRA Prize Meets in August. The 30 inch stainless 8 twist MacLennon barrel off a 300 metre bench has been averaging 5 shot groups of 1 1/2 with 107 MKings and 2 inches with 105 AMax and 108 Bergers. Thirty ORA shooters had a 900 yard practise on a Canadian Army base July 4th. Sunny, visible mirage, wind flags. Wind was a fairly steady 10 mph going from 11 o`clock to 5 o`clock. Was using 2 1/2 minutes of wind at 900 yards. Load is 49 gr RX22, Win brass and primers. Chronos at 3250 fps. Got the following plot of hits at 900 yards which is consistent with the 300 metre bench results. The 107 MKing scored 100-4x on the International F Class target, top plot) while the 108 Berger scored 96-0x,bottom plot). Inner lite-line is the F Class 1/2 minute X-ring. Inner dark-line is the F Class 1 minute 10 ring. Outer lite-line is the ISU 10 ring and outer dark-line is the DCRA 5 ring neither of which is part of these plots. Next practise I will shoot the 105 AMax against the 107 MKing. The 900 yard elevation above a 300 yard zero with the 107 MKing at 3250 fps is 16 minutes.

Obtunded: Thanks for your thought. I have had several private e-mails from this site suggesting that I try the 115 Bergers. It is a matter of being systematic in my evaluation of performance in a relatively short period of time. With the Provincials and Nationals one month away, I don`t want to be charging around in 6 different directions at the same time. So it may not be until the Fall before I transition to trials on the 115s. There are several F Class matches in October here in Ontario where I will probably compare the competition performance of 115s against the Summer results of the 107 Mking.
