69 smk?

Anyone ever shoot a coyote with these. Want dual purpose out of my AR. Don't feel like changing zero and loading diff to go hunting

I've shot a bunch of 'yotes with the 69 SMK, worked ok. I switched to the 68 hornady's just because they shot a little better for my rifle, but they both work.

I have not shot any yotes with them but they do a number on groundhogs. I shoot a 9 twist Bush Master AR. 25.3 grs Varget, CCI BR-4, 69 MK, OAL 2.260 and I use a Lee Factory Crimp Die because I get better accuracy.

They should give you 1 MOA.... I know out of my Gov. A2 barrel (who knows who made it), on a standard flatop ar (non free float) they shoot half to less than half MOA (using a nikon scope). My load was 23.7grns H335, 69 SMK with CCI Sm Rifle primers, and magazine length.

I shoot Nosler CCHP 69's out of my Daniel Defense 1-7", 16" AR. I get sub-MOA groups consistently. They are loaded over 23.0 gr H335 to mag length. Average velocity is 2650fps. I haven't tried the 69SMK's, but I have started testing the 77's. First round of testing was promising.

Haven't shot anything but paper with them but my LTR shoots them quite well with Varget and CCI Primers. Don't think you would have a problem with them. Good Luck..

I have not tried 60 SMK's on yotes, but have extensively on prairie dogs. Besides less dramatic flips and mists upon impact, when compared to Blitzkings, Berger Varmint Match, or V-Max, they work just fine. I don't think you'll have any issues with them.

My 223 AI AR does well on coyotes to ~500+/- using 69 Nosler Comp, 65 SGK and now the new .29 BC 53 Hornady V-Max (no coyotes yet beyond 150 with that one though). If the 69 SMK load doesn't give u the terminal effect you're looking for at longer ranges, i'd at least get a box of the 65 SGK's and stick 'em on top of your SMK load--bet they'll work great.

That's good to know too--always liked that 68 Hornady. Thought it looked "missile-ish".
