65m or 80mm spotting scope for the range

Now I have decided to buy a new good quality scope for prone shooting (sling and F class)
, do I go for 65mm or 80mm?
The 65mm is cheaper and being smaller, easier to carry around and store.
The 80mm costs more but is less convenient.

Is there any benefit to the 80mm scopes for reading mirage over a premium 65mm? Most of our shooting is done in broad daylight, so extra light gathering wont be needed. Will I see a realistic benefit from upsizing to the 80mm, just for reading mirage, not seeing bullet holes?

I dont think you will be able to visually distinguish a noticable difference between two scopes of same make/model between the 65mm & 80mm.

You will however for the points you already bring up, size, weight, and maueverability..

I have the Celestron Regal 65F-ED, I am very happy with it and think it is perfect for 600/1K F-class. A freind bought the 80mm and it is a monster (size). Bullet holes at those distances.. Forget it unless you have perfect atmospheric conditions... Dont care how much money you spend on a scope, its the conditions 99.99% that prevent that...

Hope this helps..
