'64 Win. M-70.

I figured posting my inquiry on this forum I've a better chance of knowledge, prior to shooting loads.

1964 Winchester; Model 70, chambered for .270 Weatherby Magnum.

Twist ratio?

Extra "good to know" information?

New to this site and the gunsmith of initial choice is several miles away.

Original barrel?
Are you sure it's a pre 64 or just control round feed . What's the ser # , a pre 64 would be 6 digit with the first 3 being 581 xxx or less .

Win wasn't available as a factory chambering in 270 Weatherby , as best I can remember , a lot of smiths were Rechambering the 270 to Weatherby mag 270 . Others replaced the barrel in the Weatherby chambering . How long have you had the gun , have you fired it ? Is the barrel blued and re stamped as to calib. Lots of question I know but necessary .

He didn't say it was a pre-64, said it was a "64

Since the originality of the barrel may be in question, just do the "push a snug patch on the cleaning rod through the bore while you measure the distance required for one complete revolution" technique, and you'll know for sure.
too darn easy...why didn't I dink of dat... thanks man.
