Well done! You lucky stiff getting to use the AR! PA won't let us use semi autos and my Les Baer barreled .264 LBC AR chambered upper would be just the ticket. Awaiting the video. I got #73 and 74 for the season tonight with my CZ in .17M2 that the rural area I was hunting limits me to. Headshots at 79 and 77 yards, sitting rested and standing rested respectively.

Anxiously awaiting the show. Nice going!

It's getting pretty chilly here at night and the ghogs seem to be keeping to their warm underground burrows more. Seeing them less and less during the day. As a matter of fact, I've seen nothing (at least where I shoot) the last two days I've been out. Looks like it's coming to a close for me up north. My count may stay at 69.

..yeah that stinks.....

.....264 LBC, I looked at those but couldn't wait the 6 - 8 months..looks like a nice 6.5mm cartridge indeed...

good job with the 17HMR, I have a Ruger K77VMBZ with a Green Mountain 17HMR barrel that shoots 1/4MOA at 200 yards!! = very nice with a Volquartsen sear....

..finally.....

I need to find "somewhere" that let's me do FASTER UPLOADS!!!...the 0.75Mbs DSL Upload Country speeds ain't cutting it...

....my count for the year is way lower than normal.....my job prevented me from hunting save for Mother's Day this past Spring....

..next year.... 8)

I think you said you're in Marion county. I'm in Delaware county. I'm waiting for the soy beans & corn to be harvested, then I'll hunt. Not too many open fields like that around here. And I sure as heck am not hunting at those ranges. I'll stick to 250 yards or less!

..check that.....Knox County

I grew up in Marion County = which is really FLAT = kinda dangerous to take "long" shots there....

..yeah...this week a lot of farmer's around me cut their fields.....best time...the g'hogs usually are vulnerable [less wary] for a couple of days after a cut...

6.5, what kind of camera are you using for video? I got a few decent clips last week at 396 and 609 with a .260 Rem. that I'd like to post, but they need edited to shorten up the dwell time between set up and the shot. Any advice? Good shooting!

...I used to video edit with Adobe Premiere 9.1

...now I use plain old Windows Live Movie Maker [under Windows 7] = the big thing is learning how to TRIM your video footage....AND also how to "slow" down for the "money/kill" shots!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZZij3NNyVg

...found out some software exists that will allow faster UPLOADS...

..if you double-click on the video it will go FULL SCREEN on your computer's monitor...

Your butt is okay but I don't feel compelled to see it full screen! ;D

lol....ha ha ha....sorry... ;D

yeah....was NOT my intentions.....

what was not choreographed was that "perfect" over the shoulder shot = if it weren't for some weeds obscuring my view, I would have not slid to the right a few feet....sometimes I get lucky!

Otherwise...I would have shot and all you would have seen is my left shoulder....

I have videotaped plenty of bowhunts, etc....I am definitely learning how-to-film your own g'hog hunts!!

I think I have the process down now...

..the video thing with groundhogs is definitely challenging....

used to be the scenario went like this:

1. See groundhog
2. Laser range groundhog
3. Enter range in Shooter App
4. Note number of MOA's correction both elevation & windage
5. Dial in MOA adjustments
3. Chamber a round
4. Zoom scope out to find groundhog
5. Find groundhog
6. Zoom scope in to center groundhog
7. Adjust parallax focus
8. Half a breath......squeeze....

Now, throw in a video camera into the mix

1a. Find groundhog in viewfinder
2b. Zoom finder
3b. Then start steps above!!!

AND a big IF....that groundhog doesn't move, or worse yet = goes back into their hole!

A little humor makes the day go by faster ;D Nice job.

indeed Larry!

....I have been waiting "patiently" for my new Vortex PST 6-25x50 FFP Scope to arrive = gonna put it on my "big rifle"...the 6.5x61Super.......

...for now, I will use the 6PDK = it has proven itself!
