600 yard f-open optic. Sightron 8-32 or 10-50?

I shoot F-open right now with a Sightron SIII 6-24 which has been great but that scope is going to be going on a different rifle. Since the SIII's are in a similar ball park of price to eachother, which would you prefer for nearly exclusive 600 f-open? Also, fine crosshair, target dot, or other reticle?

+1 on the 10-50 LRTD.... It is GREAT at 600 and almost necessary at 1000... You will be doing yourself a fav by going that route..

Stubby, the only time I jack with the power turret is when HeatWaves are so bad I can't see the target. Out at 300+ I would not be able to tell if they moved.. If they did it was such an insignificant amount as not to be discernible.

I have the dot and the plain fine crosshair. 10-50 Sightrons

I like the fine crosshair best. Especially at longer distance the dot gets to be a little big for me. I put it on my 300yd gun and the fine x on the 600 yd gun

Are the fine crosshairs ever tough to see? Or are they essentially mil-dot crosshairs without the dots.

They are not hard to see IMO
I believe they are a finer wire than the mildot wire. Their web site gives the dimensions of the fine x wire. It is the same crosshair just no dot

Thus far (2 months) am very pleased with my 8-32X56 Sightron SIII with the MOA-2 reticle. Have a mil-dot in my other scope and prefer the MOA-2. The knock on Sightron is the focus is too coarse, which I agree with. But, is not that big a deal. One of those 'set and forget' things.

Eye relief is very critical on the 10-50. The 8-32 is plenty good enough mag. out to 1000 yds. Go for the LRMOA reticle - gives you a fine reticle plus hash marks for accurate aim-off.

Thanks for the help guys. I think someone on the classifieds knew I was looking for an SIII 10-50 and posted a new in box target dot model at a good price. I will be sure to get some pictures from the range.

not wishing to get under anyones skin but I have found the folowing

1. 8-32 are clearer in the sightron than the 10-50

2. march 40x is the clearest with the 60x next and the 50x lagging behind, the 60x has too much power for short range Benchrest as you are looking at where to place the crosshairs or the small dot and forget to check the windflags, and the 50 power should not have been made in my humble opinion, the 40x is much much clearer in all the 40x scopes

again not trying to ruffle feathers but I compete and am fussy

if that is vince bottomley (sp) he knows his stuff

Save your money for a Nightforce. There are always a few good used BR 12-42's out there. You'll be glad you did.
