600 yard BR Award Questions

Mulligan

Silver $$ Contributor
The Western Colorado Rifle and Silhouette Club has started hosting monthly 1 day 600 yard IBS matches.
We had our first registered match with 22 shooters in attendance on March 9th 2019, it was a hoot and some really great targets were shot. Now, dont get me wrong, we didn’t scare the records book at all, as a matter of fact, the best groups or group aggs we shot would need a 50% improvement to “worry” the record book. However a great time was had by most everyone, and nearly all the “steel shooters” in attendance said they were going to build themselves rifles to be more competitive. For our first match, it really was a good time. Tim Barber shot a group in the .6’s and kind of blew our skirts up :D.

Now for the question;

What accomplishments are normally awarded for these type of events?
Are there accomplishments that are not normally recognized, that should be?

Here is what I see, please offer insite.

2-Gun Overall (Match winner as I see it?)
2-gun Group Agg
2-Gun Score Agg
HG Group Agg
HG Score Agg
LG Group Agg
LG Score Agg

Do the relay, group and score winners get a little something?

Plaques, metals, pins, certificates?????? Help us out please.

One thing to keep in mind is we only charge $30.00 for the day and most of that is tied up in fixed costs. I suppose if we charged $60.00 a day which I think is closer to the norm, we could do more.

We are just getting started and want to encourage shooters and build a lot of local interest. We realize we are a bit out of the way for most LR BR shooters to travel to, but maybe we will attract some hearty souls in the future?

I would change the 2 gun score and group agg's to Lt and Heavy overall.
Go 3 places in each class for score and group. Then single awards for the 3 overall categories. As funds become available go deeper in the overall categories.

Clay,

I just talked to Robby “The Enforcer” Miles of the Memphis Mafia! Also known as @miles13! He’s going to make you an offer you can’t refuse!

At the Memphis range they have the highly coveted Silver Bullet award. If you shoot a sub inch group at 600 yards your name and group size goes on the Silver bullet and it’s hung on the firing line for all to see! Cost to the club NOTHING! Why Because ROBBY is just that Cool! Robby will make the Silver Bullets and I’ll get the label maker for each range!

Tim’s Silver Bullet will be a nice start to your program!

Going to make the same offer to Dead Zero! Get you guys started off right!

Dave,
Thanks for the help.

As I understand this, we would then award

2 Gun Overall
Light Gun Overall
Heavy Gun Overall

Light Gun Group-1,2,3
Light Gun Score-1,2,3

Heavy Gun Group 1,2,3
Heavy Gun Score 1,2,3

We are thinking a mix of certificates, medals and trophy's and/or plaques. USC medal.JPG Gofer medal.JPG

I have attached a copy of our certificate and two examples of nice medals.
We will likely use GOLD, SILVER, and BRONZE for 1,2,3 on the medals.

Suggestions?

Any great trophy or plaques examples out there?

Thanks
Clay

Very nice awards “
My wife finds it fascinating (sometimes a different phrase) how many thousand $ grown men will spend to receive a $10 plaque or medal. Geez Louise ...

Anyway, a local club gives out plaques for each class winner and they are always packed with shooters.
