60 Gr. Sierra TMK and Pds

Has anyone tried the 60 gr. Sierra TMK on prairie dogs?

I am thinking of trying it out of a 12 twist 22-250.

Not yet, they shoot well out of my 7.7 twist .22-.250 with a Sg of over 3.0 @ 3500 fps- spinning like crazy. Not the best accuracy but good enough. My planned new barrel having a 9 twist should do much better. Sierra says 10 twist (Sg 1.82) or faster on the box. The Sg (Miller approximation) for a 12 twist is 1.26 but they might shoot extremely well - don't know until it is tested.

I haven't got any yet, I guess I didn't research enough because I didn't know Sierra recommended a 10 twist. I am going to try them and see what happens. If I can get them to stabilize in a 12 I will try them on pds.

Have you tried the 60gr VMax?

Not out of my 22-250. I have shot a bunch out of my ARs and faster twist 223s. Very good and extremely accurate. I am trying to focus on higher BC bullets (in this 22-250) though as some of the areas I shoot are fairly long range and usually windy.

I am going to try the 53 grain v-max, even though it is on the lighter side, it has a very good BC as does the 60 gr. TMK at .323

However, if I can't get some good accuracy from the TMK before I go, I will test the 60 gr. V-max against the 53 V-max at 600 and see which one is better.
