Don't try this at home!

Junebug, Tim Hewitt, Shayne, and myself braved the elements Sunday evening to break a few eggs in less than perfect conditions. At one point snow was building up in my March scope aperature.
You will see us covering scopes in the 30 sec. video.

Tim brought a 6 PPC and a 6 XC, Junebug shot a custom AR (J-7???), Shayne shot his 6 Dasher, and I was fireforming some new brass in my Bat 6 XC. I had just took the scope off a Viper SS and slid it on the Bat rail. I boresighted and was on paper. I had my zero and went to the 238 yard sighter target under the egg rack. Took a few to warm the barrel and get the zero tight enough for an egg.
I had 5 shell left and told the boys to watch the egg rack.

Five shots later the egg rack was missing 5 eggs. The Tim Claunch smithed 6 XC shooting the
115 DTAC's went 5 for 5 and made me proud. That was the top score of the day.

Junebug and myself opted to go to the house and get by the fire and we left the real polar bears, Shayne and Tim still shooting.

Notice snow build up in scope lens

Good guns, good friends, best of times

Cool. What powder are you shooting birddog ? I have been shooting my 6XC Hunting Rifle trying different powders in extreme cold weather. So far RL17 is a great cold weather powder. I been shooting RL23 in my XC with the 115 Hvld at 200 yards at 6 deg F to 17 deg F decent Velocity accuracy is good so far but still testing. RL17 makes a little more velocity but the 23 is grouping well. the idea is because it is a hunting rifle first and a fun target rifle second is to find a accurate load that can be shot year round. since are main hunting season is in December it can be anywhere between -20 deg F and 60 deg F so I do shoot in the extreme cold to try and learn what is going on. H4350,IMR4451, are no good at all in that kind of weather SLOW and poor groups. I have got 3,100 FPS With RL17 decent groups, 3,025-3,050 FPS With RL23 with good groups at 200 yards. A few more test and I will be ready to start stretching it out. Primers used cci200,fed 210m,S&B, cci BR2, seems primers not a big deal but some loads group better with a different primer.

I am back and forth between RL-17 and IMR 4350 (not H-4350).
I have just stared shooting the 6 XC. In fact yesterday was the first time I have shot it past 100 yards.
RL-17 definitely gives more velocity and the accuracy is there and good SD.
