I have two 6 x 47 L rifles. one has a fired case outside diameter of about .273 - .2735. Using Lapua brass and Sierra 107's the loaded neck diameter is about .2705. This works fine. My second rifle I have not fired yet but it appears to have a .272 chamber neck. I formed the new Lapua cases using a Redding bushing neck die with the expander plug (last time I did not use the expander plug) and the loaded case necks are about .2715-.272. In this new rifle I can feel the cartridge is tight when loaded with the Sierra 107 and I can see mild burnishing in some spots on the case neck. So I assume the chamber neck is around .272.
So it looks like I will have to turn some necks. Can anyone provide some advice as to the desired outside loaded cartridge neck diameter? Would my .2705 cartridges be safe in a .272 chamber?
Thanks
