targetsAre you trying to shoot target scores or ringing steel or something else?
ok thanksNothing at all wrong with a 6x47 Lapua, but if you want to know what cartridge is best you may want to check out what the top winning competitors in F Class Open Division use, and also what the top winning 1000 yd bench rest shooters use.
I’m not sure about the best sources for that information. Maybe others can provide links that will help.
I shoot one at 1000 yards. It’s a prone gun and I like the increased barrel life and reduced recoil. Better in the wind than a 308, nearly as good as my 6.5x284.is the 6 x 47 lapua a good 1000 yard round i have a 6 BRA thinking using it a 600 yds . i know the BRA will shoot a 1000 yds but thought the 6 x 47 lapua would be better what do you guys think?

What grain bullet are you shooting with Varget? Im in the process of building a 6x47 and am trying to plan which powder to use but would be handy to try Varget first since i shoot that out of my dasher. If you go the 6X47 route most people shoot H4350 and it does shoot fantastic most of the time. I'm on my 4th 6X47 barrel and if you don't get the accuracy you want shoot some Varget in it. I've had 2 barrels that absolutely been hammers with it. They can be a little finicky over some other cartridges but a little work and they shoot small!
haven't shot target yet just coyotes with 95 grain bullet . but going with 103 VT for targets to start then go with a heavier bullet later .What grain bullet are you shooting with Varget? I hear ya. I’d much rather shoot a 6. But if you want a dedicated rig to actually compete at a grand your Gona want a 300wsm and or 284. Look up all the major 1000 yard events. It’s not by chance that the best shooters are shooting .308 or .284 If ya just want to plink 6x47 is awesome. I shot a 25x47 for a few years. Awsome cartridge as well.i'm sure the 300 WSN is great i just like 6 mm & 6.5 bullets less powder & bang .
I'm shooting 107SMK with excellent accuracy and 108 Berger BT shoot just as good. Honestly neither one out shoots the other. Here's the specs. Brux 1/7.5" 28" 1.250 Varget in Lapua necked down brass forester 6X47 Fl die 33.8gr 107s Seated .20 off. This is a steel play gun for club matches but I feel like I should have put one of my NF COMP scopes on it and shot a 600yd IBS match! I also have a few dasher and this gun shoots right with them. If you need anything shoot me a msg! What grain bullet are you shooting with Varget? Do you have notes on the muzzle velocity that those 107’s shot best at. Thanks .I'm shooting 107SMK with excellent accuracy and 108 Berger BT shoot just as good.
