6 PPC neck clearance

shooting a .268 neck 6PPC and my first batch of brass I think I got a little thin and loaded rounds measure .2648 ,,on my next brass should I turn necks for slightly less clearance ?? maybe .2660 with bullet seated,,I could always turn them thinner later but cant add it back,,

how much clearance do you run in your 6PPC???

my old brass is .0032 ,,so .266 with bullet seated would be on the tight side at .002,,I think I will try a few and see if I can tell any difference in how it shoots,,

Be curious if you start seeing fliers, or verticle thats trendy.
From re-turning necks? I re-turned some for my .222 and didn't notice that. It seemed like it shot more consistent. Bullets seated more evenly from case to case too.

Please explain that statement. I have re-turned old brass necks with nil problems.
Against the advice of my BR mentor, I went that route and results were poor. The common belief is necks get thinner with more firings. If they are getting thicker, then there is a sizing problem.

Not true. I shoot 3 tight neck calibers, and check necks frequently with my tube mic. They never change their thickness.

.268-.002(clearance)-.243=.023/2 = 0.0115 per side
I would suggest turning the necks to 0.011

Jack Neary says "thin to win"

Jack does. Or say that anymore he has lots of neck clearance and has nothing bad to say about 268 necks

I taught him the 2 thou clearance on each side then at St. Louis the next year he told guys at his lecture that more clearance is good

Has nothing to do with extremely thin necks that has gone by the wayside years ago

The thinning is usually minute and due to cleaning the necks with steel wool. Why would anyone have to re-cut necks after firing if they never change?
