6 PPC Barrel twist.

i would like to build a 6ppc with a no turn neck chamber.
i am having trouble finding information on what barrel twist to bullet weight would suit. this rifle will mainly be used for varmints but i would still like the oppurtunity to have a go at benchrest.
is there a twist rate that will cover bullets from 55gr to say 80gr,or 60gr to 90gr any help and advice would be greatly appriciated.

rick06: There is an almost unlimited wealth of information on the 6ppc on this sites '6ppc info page'. Just a few examples in answer to your questions: barrel twist for some varmint shooting included w. BR is a recommended 1-12. Chamber neck dia. for a no-turn neck, a discussion we had here a few months ago), is recommended as .274'. Load combos, bullet weights, powder & charges, list goes on and on.;)

frank thanks for the reply, i have read the info page and i was still confused about barrel twist rate.it says a twist rate of 13.5 but i am shaw that would be for dedicated benchrest rifles.
i would like to be able shoot a range of projectiles, say from 55gr to 80 gr, if that is not possible from a 6ppc then im fine with that and will look at something else.
thanks rick.

A 12 twist will let you shoot all bullets that will work well in a PPC. Sure, you won't be able to shoot the 80 to 105 grainers but you're pushing the PPC to places where it shouldn't be with bullets that heavy. I shoot a PPC at 600 yard Benchrest and I use nothing heavier than 75 grains. For live varmints out to 350 yards or so, bullets as light as 60 grains work great.

With a good barrel you won't be handicapped using the usual 65-70 grain match bullets at 100-200 yard Benchrest.

rick06...If I may,I'd like to suggest a neck diameter small enough for at least a clean-up turning to be sure the necks are true and even thickness such as a .268' or so.
Thank you...gpoldblue
