6 mm br in an AR-15? has this been done before? what were the results? is there even a bolt that will fit the case and fit in the carrier? thanks, brian

It's been done - does not typically work out well - typically feeding is also temperamental. You also need to rebate the rims of the 6mmBR case because the bolts for an AR-15 do not handle a rim that diameter. Closest 6mm cartridge that runs well out of an AR-15 is the 6mmAR that can be seen at www.6mmAR.com

it should work if you went with the ar-10 platform with the 308 bolt but it is a bigger gun all around.

Might have a chance in the 6.8 magazine using the M4 cut upper receiver, 6.8 barrel extension and bolt. I have one on the drawing board right now.

The 6.5 Grendel or 6 mm wildcats based on the Grendel or the 6.8 SPC will be much more practical ideas.

I shot next to Eric Bellows at CP in 2006. He used a AR platform in 6BR and rifle performed without any issues using standard 6BR brass. Eric and partner are currently in stage of marketing this platform sometime later this year.
