6 Grinch Brass Forming ?

The 6 Grinch is looking very interesting. I am not that knowledgeable on the forming of Custom Brass.

My Guess would be have a Barrel chambered for the 6 Grinch, get some Laupa 6.5 Grindel brass, reduce the neck size to 6mm and them load some up and shoot it in the new barrel to fireform it. But!! I'm pretty sure I could goof it up, If there is someone who knows how to Fireform this Brass please share. I would hate to get some new brass and mess it up. This would probably be an down the road build, but I am curious as to how to do this??

Thanks

You should contact Bart Sauter. He was shooting 6 Grinch at the IBS 600 Yard Match in Memphis last month. It is a very interesting cartridge and I may very well have to get on board too.

It's really close to the 6mm Fat Rat and I played with one of those and actually wouldn't mind another! it's rather simple to form the brass... 6.5 Grendel brass and I was adding a .005" shim when running thru the 6mm Fat Rat die which would cause a false shoulder so when you fired the round it would size to the chamber. It looked rather odd but worked wonderfully! I just wish there was more options for dies as I'm sorta cheap lol Later,

If you aren't after thew few extra fps of the blown out version, I think a straight 6 Grendel would address the fireforming and the die issues nicely. My 6 Grendel reamer shipped thew day before yesterday, so I should have it in a few days. I'm excited to wring it out. Should do very well. I've been shooting a 30 Major(30 Grendel) since 2007. It works well enough to hold the 100 yard record for 5 shot group in a registered match. The PPC had 40 years and virtually every br shooter in the world shooting for the record for all of that time, without breaking it. The 30 Major was and is still just a babe but has some impressive stats under its belt in that short while.

As a straight up 6 Grendel, case capacity is right between a ppc and br case.

I will do a lot of reading on the forming of the 6PPC Brass from 220 Russian.
I will also do some reading on the forming of brass from other caliber brass that can be found on the internet for the purpose of seeing how it's done.

I know I will have to look into down sizing the 6.5MM Grendel neck to the 6 mm neck and it sounds like the necks walls will have to be turned possible a couple of thousands.

I am hoping Bart will share the process they used in forming their new 6 Grinch Brass. I thought I had seen it here, but cant find it now.
