6 Dasher

Dick Erbele built me a fantastic 6 Dasher rifle.

Defiance left hand drop port with a defiance 20moa base
Brux 1:7.75 twist finished at 28"
Shehane MBR tracker stock with a awesome clearcoat finish
Jewell comp. trigger
Sightron 8-32 SIII
Seb front rest and rear bag

Got to spend some quality time with her this week. All I can say is it shoots better than it looks, if that is possible.

I like that drop port orifice. My Stiller Diamondback 6 dasher drop port simply has a 9/16" hole showing in front of the trigger guard. Doesn't look bad but brass does hang up about 40% of the time as it drops down. Usually I just have to nudge the bolt forward to send the hanger-on down the chute so I haven't bothered to correct the issue.

Nice rifle!

I also have a Dasher Defiance Drop Port rifle. Yor are really going to like this one "blipelt" these are fine shooting rifles.

Your bottom medal around the Port is a really cool idea, this was a custom feature done by your Smith as the Defiance doesn't come with that. Great addition and your Smith did a really nice job on it.

You are correct the more I use it the more I like the configuration. I have to say I just used it today in a local varmint/fun shoot and it performed flawlessly. Dick was the person who made the bottom metal. He inletted and clearcoated the stock also. Basically your one stop shop so the speak.

The pics don't do it justice, reminds me of my old chromed out hot rod from my younger years.

I've had Dick build 2 Dashers for me and worked on a 22BR....Not a nicer guy around and very excellent smith to boot.
Best Wishes with your pretty rifle and keep us posted on how she shoots.

Thanks guys, been a real pleasure. I have also done some other drop ports, experiencing drop problems, that's why the alternate bottom port configuration. Seems like it works quite well.

I just finished my drop port built on a Defiance action and get close to 100% cleanly dropped brass now. I had to clean up the inletting job I did for the drop chute so there are no snags that can catch the brass to get good clean repeatable drops.

I really like the drop port feature.

With the 7.5 twist, do you plan to shoot 115's?
How is she shooting?
Nice rifle. My favorite action is my Diamondback
drop port.

So far I have between 150-200 rounds down the barrel and I haven't had any hang ups. I am still getting to know all the techniques and such with benchrest shooting. First rifle, but I have .154" 5 shot group at 100 load worked up with berger hybrids and RL-15. I am sure someone with more experience would make them smaller because this rifle flat out shoots. I took 3rd in a local varmint match with it, lost to a couple great guys/shooters.

I have always used a little faster twist barrel for the projectile I use in my hunting rifles. So I just continued on with it since I have never had any problems. I don't plan on using 115's unless they work better in one of the barrels.

I hope to spend some time with it before we travel to Missoula MT. in August.

Someone asked for some groups and my wife wanted me out of the house so I went and sent a few downrange. I also needed to shoot in some hotter temps. The distance was 550yds. I only load three of each since I didn't find my max load and hadn't shot in hotter conditions yet. I have two loads I tried:

33.2 RL15 with a berger hybrid for 3.469" The winds were the most inconsistent when I shot this group. When I shot the second they became more consistent and I used 33.4 with RL15 for 1.561. The pics aren't very good sorry not much of a hand with a camera.
