6 Dasher or 6 Creedmoor

I'm planning to build a new gun in the near future and i need some help from the guys that have experience. My plan is to build an Elisio Tube Gun for shooting out to 600 yds. I'm using a Remington 700 action and i plan on using a 28" barrel. I don't shoot compettions, just paper punching and steel. My question is whether I go with the 6 Creedmoor or the 6 Dasher. I already have a 6 Creedmoor so I understand how it performs. I like to play with new calibers and I have never owned a Dasher. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dasher. Also may I suggest 6BRX it has the same performance with the 30d shoulder. Much easier to find dies for.

I think this is your answer.

The Dasher has earned a great reputation for accuracy at both 600 and 1,000 yard competitions. There is excellent brass available, bullet selection is very positive so I don't see any drawbacks.

The only change I would suggest is selecting a better quality action and skip the M700.

Regards.
So I should discard the top 2 rifles and get a different action?? http://i.imgur.com/a9gHy6C.jpg

Custom actions are nice but a Dasher on a trued up 700 will shoot very very well. I'd reccomend having the pin hole bushed and the pin turned to .062". Dasher's crater primers pretty bad at the presures they like to run at. Go 7.5" twist so you don't limit the bullets you can shoot. It's hard to beat a Dasher or BRX at 600!

Thanks guys for all of your help. I'm planning on using the R5 chasis with the Competition Machine mags. I don't think feeding the Dasher rounds will be a problem. Are there any other benefits of using the BRX instead of the Dasher? I also plan to run 105 Berger Hybrids in this gun. What is the suggested freebore for the Dasher?

I've built dozens of competitive rifles on the M700 actions but I happen to believe that some of the custom actions make better rifles under specific circumstances.

You should exercise your own discretion and please yourself. I was simply offering a suggestion that has been made and discussed 1,000 times here and elsewhere. Besides, it offered you the chance to make what you considered to be a disarmingly clever statement.;)

Have a great day and good shooting!:D

Kurz,

I appreciate your reply and advice. I wasn't the one that posted that reply. I have been shooting for over 45 years but, I am always willing to accept advice from others that have experience. I understand your advice about using a custom action. I too, agree that custom actions have their advantages.

Only if you don't to fire form and want to run the Norma Dasher brass. I own both and they perform the same. Which one I like better just depends on my mood at the moment.
For either a BRX or Dasher on Lapua brass, for 105 gr on up .125"-.150"
On the Norma Dasher chamber .125" is about perfect.

Remshot,

I know, it was attributed to the poster in the quote just above my answer. My second answer was not direct at you at all. Not a big deal at all. But I did remember to use a smiley face and a wink!

Regards.

Well, I had a 6mmRem that had way too much neck expansion and that was giving my cracked necks after 2 firings, so I turned that into the green rifle, the black rifle used to be a SPSS in 308, pretty much the same thing but that didn't have the accuracy standard I was after, so I had another 6 creed built. They're both very accurate with their trued by LRI 700 actions.

I would do a 6 BRA. It does everything a Dasher does, better. Brass is easier, longer neck, better barrel life, easier to tune. Order a Dasher die from Harrell's with .080" cut off the bottom and use a standard dasher seater.
Nice, I like it, do u have a reamer print u would share, where did u get your reamer from...thanks
