6 dasher 87gr vmax loads

Hi all

Looking for some suggested 87gr vmax loads for my 6 dasher. It has a 22" 8 twist barrel that I will use with 105 class bullets at short 300-500m f class range but in spare time I will be using it for varmints. Will be using lapua cases, varget and CCI450's. Any idea of velocity would be appreciated as well.

It's tough finding good varmint data for the benchrest calibers sometimes, huh? I'd go to the Berger load manual, Pg 426 and peruse their starting numbers for the loads they show for the 6br Remington. I don't shoot many hot loads - and I can tell you I don't believe there is a hot load in the Berger manual. If you don't have their manual, go to their website to link for load data request. Very good people. Ask for 6br data for ther 87 Match Grade VLD hunting or 88 Gr Match Grade High BC Flat Base (data is the same). They have data for nine powders. Careful and gradual workup should be very straightforward as Berger is conservative on the powder from what I have seen and your cartridge doesn't get any closer to the 6br Remington. Hope this or someone else helps with a proven load. I worked up a load in my 6br for the 62 Barnes Varmint Grenade after not being able to find any data a few years ago. It was well worth it. These are GREAT varmint cartridges!

I would start with the same charge that your shooting your 105's with and work up. The 87's should seat well in your longer throat(they seem to seat deeper than other varmint bullets). I haven't shot any 87's in my dasher but there is an article about a guy shooting them with a stout load of N135 @ 3400+. That might be a little warm, but I'd think you should be able to reach 3300.

My dasher varmint load is:
Varget - I could PM the charge weight if you want
70gr. Nosler Bal. Tips - .020 off hard jam
BR-4's
3700 FPS
