I would think what bullet you plan to shoot will dictate your twist.

For me personally I’d shoot a 28-30” barrel with a 7.5 or 7.75 twist.

Geographic location does matter when choosing a barrel bullet combination. Close to sea level, you'll need to lean toward the faster twist barrels. Getting into the 4000+ elevations you can back off a bit but generally anything 105 an 8 twist is minimum. 7-7.5 is better for heavier than 105. I've shot 115s from the .243 at 6500' asl with a 9 twist just fine. It wouldn't stabilize the 105s at home(800'asl).

I'm running a 24" 1in8" proof research barrel on my Savage 12FV. I get very good accuracy with bullets up to 108gr. However, I wish they would have made it in a little faster twist (7.5 or 7) so I could use 110-115gr bullets. 284 has a good point as well. elevation does matter. All my shooting has been done from near 0' (sea level) to 1000'.

For F Class a 28-30" would work well. Give good velocities. I run a 28" in PRS matches. For twist a 7.5 would be a good area. I use a 7.7 and it stabilizes 108 and 110 A Tips just fine. What bullet you plan to use?

We think alike Matt.
Must be doing something right then lol.
Been running a 27” 7.5 twist bartlein 5r on my kelbly in 6 creed for few seasons now! Love the balance, with the medium Palma. Could go a touch heavier maybe but still not bad. Great velocities.

but on a bench a 30” straight tube, mtu, m40 gives you so much more stability
