6 CM ?

Apparently I have been out of the loop a while doin the army thing but what exactly is a 6cm and what supposedly makes it soooooo much better than the 243 and 243AI?
Thanks

the reason me and others shoot it is because it is faster that a 6xc with no molly and the bbl last longer. The reason i went with a 6cm over a 243 ackley is a cm keeps a 243 taper where an ackley is a streight case. A 6cm will feed realllly good and i have had trouble getting an ackley to feed. I also do not think you could get enough more fps out of an ackley to make it worth it

I missed this post.

The 6CM is better than a straight 243 Win because of the improved shoulder angle. It is more accurate and much easier to get great accuracy. Furthermore, it will yield higher velocities than a straight 243 Win.

As far as the 243 Ackley goes. If you are only shooting slow fire you will get more velocity from the Ackley cartridge. With the 6CM, with the 107, we are getting about 3200 fps and with the Ackley I got about 3400 fps. Accuracy was similar. As far as barrel life, I have no information on the Ackley shot with H1000 or similar.

I designed the 6CM for NRA competition. It was necessary to keep the taper in the case for feeding issues.

The 6CM is a very accurate cartridge that is going to yield 3000 rounds from a cut rifled barrel,Kreiger, Bartlien, Satern or similar). The loading of single based, very slow burning powders like H1000 or N165 is required to achieve the extend barrel life.
