6 BRA out to 1100 this evening

Took the 6 BRA out to 1100 this evening to get a verified dope chart for the upcoming LR steel match in John Day this coming Saturday.

Cracked open my new jug of H4895 and just loaded em up at 30.2g with the 108g ELDM. No time for load development with it. I replaced the Hellfire brake with a new APA gen 3 little bastard also, so needed to rezero. With the new lot of H4895 I was at 2875fps at 30.2g. With the old lot I was at 30.3 at 2850fps. So gained around 35fps or so from the new lot.

Winds were 5-10 mph coming from about 10 o clock. Shot from 300-1100 every 100 yards. Got 1st round hits out to 1K. 1st shot at 1100 was just under the plate. Came up 1 click and put the 2nd on the bottom of the plate. Came up 1 more click and put the next 4 on the upper plate.

Was shooting prone with a MDT bipod and Armageddon rear bag.

The MPA chassy felt pretty good from the prone position. I was pretty happy with the way it went. We'll see what happens this coming Saturday!

We want more!!!!

More to come! Just starting to have fun shooting longer distance with it. Was the first time shooting it past 500 yards not from a bench. First match with the rifle this weekend. Hoping it doesn't let me down haha. I think as long as the wind isn't to crazy, should do pretty good. I believe the targets are from 300-1100 yards. 35 rounds and 6 stages.

What size plate is that you’re plinking at 1100? Banging steel is allot of fun at distance! Good shooting!

John Day as in Oregone ?
COSSA out of Bend has Steel to 1367 ?

Oregon yes. It's about a 3 hr drive from me in Hermiston.

I have a private range 15 minutes from my house that we can get out to mile. But most of our shooting is done from 3-1200. We have steel set up every 100 yards from 3-1k, then another at 1200. We'll just use the LRF to get 1100, or whatever we need from there out to a mile.

Good for you.
COSSA is also Private Club and a drive from Tumalo.
I can use my E-Target on the 1800 Acres of land next to my place for 600. At Times ?

Very nice! I wish I had my own range...But for now, I'm good friends with a buddy that has 15K acres and I got him into LR shooting. So we set up a range down one of his north facing canyons. Poured a 10'-20' slab to shoot from. Also have a concrete bench for 100 yard zero and load development work. It's kinda nice to have it all to ourselves.

Well I placed 5th. Not to bad considering my rifle was shooting high and right all day, and I have no idea why. Pretty disappointed with myself...It was zeroed perfectly last week, but for some reason I was shooting over 2 MOA targets and also hitting off to the right of them as well, with basically no wind. I've been trying to figure out what went wrong and where. The elevation change could account for it at 1K and 1100, but it doesn't explain it at the shorter distances. I zeroed at 1K elevation last week and this range was at 3K. Temps were the same, roughly 40 degrees. Oh well, still had a great time with a bunch of great guys. And it still beats a day at work!
