6 BRA fire forming

I have a 6 BRA....I have once fire Lapua 6 BR brass. It was fired in a BR chamber and unprocessed.

If I chamber the fired unprocessed cases, I get a bit of resistance when closing the bolt.

Should I neck size and mandrel and fire form from there? Or do I need to get a 6 BR die and bump the shoulder?

The resistance isn't BAD. I don't need a hammer.

I'm thinking the resistance is a good thing and I won't need to jam bullets to get the rounds to fire....but wanna check here to make sure I'm on the right track.

Was going to load up a test of 29-30gr of Varget and 108 BTs and find a accurate load and run it till its all formed. I'm a steel shooter so I don't need sub quarter MOA. Obviously if I can get bugholes, I'll shoot that load. Lol.

If I remember correctly the bra is .004 shorter at the neck shoulder junction. The slight crush fit you are feeling is normal and exists for a reason.

I was assuming so....but wanted to verify. It should aid in fire forming. Though I fired 10 rounds of Lapua factory 6BR ammo and it fired beautifully and matched my 3x fired brass headspace so I know it blew out fully. Those factory BR rounds chambered like fully processed brass would. Nice easy bolt close.

Myself, I would just load them and fire them as long as you can close the bolt.. I load up new 6br brass and fire them at a match. They shoot great and the result is 6bra brass after firing. I think it's a win win situation.
My new 6BRA reamer should be here Monday, I made a go gauge from the print and hope to just jam the bullets firmly to get a good fire form.

I never had a problem fire-forming some Lapua brass, just loaded them up with same 6BR load{ CCI 450's, 30gr Varget} I was already using but when I switched over to Peterson brass I found I was getting misfires {primer failing to ignite though slightly dented} This was about 3-5 out every 10 rds so I pulled the rounds, and changed out the CCI 450's for some CCI 400's, added another 1.5 thou neck tension and up the jam from 5-7 thou to 10-12 thou and the problem went away... The 450's just seemed to be "too hard" for the fire forming to consistently ignite but once fire formed, No Problem.

If its a BRA its .004 short on a BR go gauge. Thats how I designed it. The A stands for Ackley. Theres many different BR improved designs out there that may be different. But, when I released my print I named it 6 BRA (print 1323 from JGS). At the bottom it says BR -.004". That slight crush fit forms more consistent brass and prevents misfires when forming.

As stated, check to make sure you have a no turn chamber. Assuming you do, I would anneal and then shoot it with a moderate load and bullets jammed into the lands.

Hey Alex maybe you can help me out on something, so it seems like the alpha 6bra brass is .010 shorter then your designed bra case. Is this accurate? So my Manson reamer br ack go gauge measures 1.159 with a 350 comparator, my fired bra brass measures 1.1815, and new Alpha bra brass measures 1.172. my chamber will close on the br ack go gauge, but not with a piece of scotch tape on it, or obviously the br go gauge which measures 1.163. I can't figure out why alpha designed the bra brass the way they did. It's even exactly .010 shorter then there br brass..
