6 BR primers

I have not yet mounted the 6 BR barrel on my Ross Rifle, but have run into some confusion. It seems there are two schools of thought re which primer to use.

One group champions BR-4s, a personal favorite) and another thinks 450s as a small Magnum primer gives good SD etc.

OK, please save me a bunch of load development time, I will need to chose a primer and stay with it. My reloading schedule will not allow me to load two primers for one rifle..

Thanks

Tom

Buy the Russian Wolf brand primers and be done with it....
I've never seen such low SD's and velocity spreads in any thing else, ever....
You also can't beat the prices....

Get the small rifle magnum primers, they have the same primer compound as the "regular" primers but a harder cup. The "regular" small rifle primers are SOFT!

Love the Wolf small rifle magnum primers.

I just started loading for a new 6BR using Lapua brass. I could barely get BR4 primers to seat and when they did they left a small indentation in primer face.
Switched over to Federals and they went in a lot easier and no mark.
Maybe this dosen't matter but putting that kind of pressure on a primer gave me the creeps.
The Wolfs sound interesting.

CCI 450's. They work VERY well and they are available. Wolf are not available where I am and fed primers are in short supply of late.

I had used the 7 1/2's for a while until I cronographed the difference with the Wolf brand, and just never bothered to go back..

Does anyone know how to get ahold of the WOLF primers without the hazmat fee? cuz nobody around here stocks them

Just get a few friends together and buy a case or 2 of them and split up the hazmat.
They are cheap enough to buy as it is.......

This is how I get my Wolf primers without paying the haz-mat. I just walk into Widener's reloading & shooting supply any Monday through Friday Noon to 5 p.m. and ask for what I want and Norman rings them up.:D
