6 BR powders

My 6BR ought to be back in a couple of weeks, so I'm going to have to crank up load testing when it does. I'm going to focus on two bullets for an upcoming PD hunt: 65 and 75 grain V-Maxes. After reading through a pile of stuff laying around here, it looks it's H4895 or N135 for the 65 grainers and Varget or N540 for the 75 grainers.

Anybody got some strong preferences for one over the other?

It's got a 10-twist barrel, but I wanted to stick with the lighter bullets 'cause it has a big brother that'll be in the box with it: a 6-284 that I'm going to use for the 87-105 grain range.

thanks,
robert

I have tried Varger and H322. I tried the H322 with 68 grain bullets but the accuracy was not as good as the varget. Right now I am using 30grs behind the 80 Berger and 32grs behind 68 Bergers. Both loads are regular .3xx performers. The 80 gr load is very mild but I haven't had time for more experiments.

Robert,
I've had excellent results with N135 & Varget in a 1-14" 6mm BR using 65grn. V-Maxes and 68grn. Fowlers. I use a CCI 450 sm. mag. primer with the Varget and a Fed. sm. match primer for the N135. On a good day with still conditions, I've been able to shoot five shot groups in the mid .1's, low .2's. I have a buddy who also has a 1-14" that loves the 65grn. V-Maxes. It's hard to go wrong with this cartridge.

I'm starting to think I should just stick with the Varget. I'll be giving up a little to the faster burning options, but it will make life simpler to not add another powder. I've got a lot of things that like Varget.

Thanks for the info, guys.
