6 br or 6brx

thinking of rechambering a barrel... whats the biggest difference between the two. only seen one 6brx and was impressed with it.

Kind of a vague question. BRX has more powder capacity, generally +150fps, and a much shorter neck. It uses 6br brass with shoulder blown forward .100" so you will lose .100" neck length, also you use 6BR dies backed off. BR is probably better out to 250 yards, BRX better from 250-1000yds.

guess it is a opened end question.. we shoot a lot a 300-400 yard ballon shoots. going to have to rechamber a barrel and thought i might try one. the br is starting to have accuracy problems.. barrel is about at the end of its life. want cost much to rechamber it, so i thought i might try it thanks

DCRYDER pretty much sum'd up the difference. The BRX is a 6BR with the shoulder blown forward .100" Easy to fireform cases, use 6br dies. I was looking at some of my 600yd scores with the 6br and noticed every once in a while I'd leak out a 9. If I had another 100fps or so the 9 would be a wide 10. Both of these rounds are extreemly accurate. At the longer ranges I think the BRX has the advantage just because of it's speed.

With the relative short distance you're shooting, a 6BR seems to be the cartridge of choice. No fire forming, no speciality dies, etc. With a 6br, just buy your brass, powder, primers, bullet of choice, load and go have fun. Don't get me wrong, I have a BRX and love it. My decision is based on the fact that I have a tight budget and shoot both 600 and 1000 yrd F-class with one rifle. I now have a rifle with a 2500-3000 rnd barrel life and with brass @ $75 per 100, and loads with only 32grns of powder, it 's the right choice for me. If I was going to shoot 600 or less yrds, I feel the 6br would be the right choice.

Remember a bad day at the range beats a good day at work
