6 ackley or 6x47?

Going to be building one of the two and would like some info on both pros and cons. Going to be used for paper, deer size game, and PD'S. Thanks.

I have owned both cartridges and both were 8 twist rifles. The 6AI is going to wear the barrel out faster but all in all if i had the choice between the 2 I would go 6AI again. Both highly accurate in a good setup smithed correctly. 6AI will net you 100-200 fps more than a 6X47 and will burn 8-10 grains more powder. To me the 6AI has the "cool" factor...
Either way you will be happy, but if shooting more critters than paper then the 6AI would be the way to go.

Can't speak for the 6mmAI but have two .243AI's and a 6X47L. The .243 does 3200 fps with the A-Max and 48 grs. of powder from a 28" bbl and the 6X47L does 3123 fps with 40.5 grs. and a 24" tube. Could push the .243 more with double base powders but temp sensitivity for a hunting gun is important to me, same could be said for the 6X47L also. Both are bug-holers. Next tube will be a 10 or 12tw in 6X47L for me. JMHO

I also should mention that with either cartridge you have brass prep chores as far as necking down parent 6.5X47 cases for 6X47 or blowing out 6MM cases into the AI configuration.. Horse apiece as far as that goes...

Mr Majestic also has a good point that you can push the .243AI or the 6AI to get some serious speed, but accuracy usually suffers. I used 48 grains of 4831SC in my 6AI with 108 BIBS and 107 Sierras and speed was a mild 3200, I tried higher powder charges and got some cool chrony numbers but groups opened up. 6AI is a definate hot rod..

Well I was planning on the 6 AI but someone brought up the lupua case and I just wanting to make sure..I have a lot of 6mm brass so I was hoping on staying with that so I didn't have to sell it all.

I was going to mention it is hard to find 6mm brass, but as you stated you have a lot, so that is a non issue.

Good luck with which ever one you decide on, both are really good choices.
