6.8 SPC Brass Forming

I recently purchased 200 6.8 SPC brass to reload for one of my AR-15's. It is running about $50 per 100 pieces. I'd like to find a way to make the brass cost a little cheaper. I know it's parent case is the 30 Remington, but that costs just as much, then id have to form it.

Do any of you know of another case with a .422" rim diameter that I could form from to cut costs? I can't think of any myself...

Thanks :)

That's about it. I use SSA small primer brass which has been very decent. I got mine for about $42 per 100 during one of their occasional sales.

Yeah I figured. Unfortunately I had to buy Remington brass unless I wanted to wait til the middle of January for a backorder. I hate Remington brass quality and they are the only ones that make 6.8 SPC brass with large rifle primer pockets, which I wasn't thrilled about either. Wish I could have found some SSA brass or cheap used Hornady brass so I could use the SR primers. But it's not like it's going to be a long range tack driver anyhow, so I'll be happy with MOA or slightly better accuracy. Just have to see.

It will be on a "RRA" lower with a 2 stage match 3.5lb trigger and a "Rguns" heavy 20" fluted upper with round varminter aluminum free float hand guard. 3-12X44 Weaver Tactical scope.

I bought 400 - Hornady 110gr BTHP Match bullets for testing. Have a wide variety of powders and LR primers to try.

Which powders gave you the best speeds without signs of pressure?

I haven't done a lot of load development on 100+ grain bullets. A good practice load is 90gr TNT driven by 29.5gr of RL7, Wolf SRM, loaded to 2.26". There's a whole bunch of load data on 68forums.com.

Edit: SSA small primer brass, 2950fps out of a 20" barrel, about 0.75 moa.

I also have a good load for the 95gr TTSX - 29.4gr RL10x, 2880fps, about the same accuracy.
