6-6.5-47L BBL life

I am heading out for a few days to murder some prairie dogs. By the time I return i will have north of 1400 rounds through my 6-47L. The gun shoots as good as it ever did and I haven't had to chase the lands to far. My load is a run of the mill load. 39 gr H4350 behind a Berger 108 BT and 450's at around 3100.

My brass ....200 pieces....is still like new with very tight primer pockets, so I could probably use it in a new bbl. I have a new blank sitting on the shelf ready to chamber up. I had 200 rounds of new , gold box brass sitting on the shelf, but STUPIDLY sold it a couple of months ago. I didn't think that I would shoot this tube as much as I have this summer, so I figured I was a year away from needing to re-BBL. Also, since there was a shortage of 6.5-47 brass I figured I would do my little part and help someone out who needed it worse than me.

Just wondering what kind of life you re getting out of your tubes? I don't use this for BR....mainly steel at LR-ELR. Thinking if tube life is under 2000 rounds I might pick up some new 6.5-47L brass since it has became available again the last couple of days.

My other option is to do a Dasher BBL.....I have 500 Lapua brass all fire formed and ready to go......same lot #!!!

For what your doing you could see up to 2000rd life but watch the barrels temperature. Hotter it gets the faster it will erode.

I'm up to 1300 rounds on my 6x47 lapua, only seen some throat erosion, changed my seating depth and it's good. Some of my buddies shooting the same are running around 40 gr on h4350 and getting close to 2000 rounds before rebarrel. Id check it on paper at 300 yards or so, and see what kind of groups you get after the hunt.

You already stated what caused it... A mild load....a little bit of cooling, a couple of hundred fps off max, a few extra clicks in the scope to accommodate the velocity loss and you got a barrel that will last a long long time..
