6.5X55 Loads wanted

Hello Everyone,
Can I start by saying what a fantastic site this is,Due in total
to all who make it what it is,it is one of the few good reasons
for having a P.C.My question is does any one have any loads
for the 6.5X55 using 120g Sierra Pro Hunter, and 140g Sierra
Game King,with Hodgdon H 4350 powder. I have a Sauer 202 with a
23.5" barrel and 8.5" twist.Thanks Derrick U/K.

Not sure what powder you want to use but most of the powder companies have data on there web sites.

I use the Rem 120 core-lokt factory projectiles, and have for 10 years now, so this might be helpful but my powder is local equivilent of H4350 and it's rate is CLAIMED tobe within 5% of H4350.

I load hot so I 'll give you my starting loads and you can work up from there.
I load up using the ladder method in Euro brass which has the correct sized web area for the 6.5x55 unlike most US brand brass I have measured which is based on 30/06 sizing and measure undersise to CIP standards.
Hirtinberger brass is really top quality stuff and a lot less than lapua or norma but only a few % points under them in quality IMNHO.

I start off with 43 grains of the local H4350 EQ and load up in 0.2 grain incriments.
I have loaded to over 47.4 grains but I DO NOT RECOMEND IT AS BRASS LIFE WAS SHORT,ONCE) AND VENTING PRIMERS HAPPENED 50% OF THAT LOAD. and it really didn't do any better than the much milder load of 44.2 and 44.6

Hi, Thanks for your reply, I managed to get hold of the lee reloading manual today, and it gives Max load on 120G Jacketed
with Hodgdon H4350 as 46.0g so if I start below that I think
I should find a starting point.
Regards, Derrick.

Powders Reloader 22, VIN N560, Norma MRP.

BUllets 139-142 class Match bullets.

Jam .015 into rifling.

Lapua cases.

Primers: Winchester Large rifle or PMC/Russian/WOlf.

Charge work up from 47 grains or so. Shoot over chronograph. 2950 fps seems to be a magical number for these bullets.

Lapua's IMHO are best all-a-round. Bergers better in the wind.

Use .002 neck tension 1/2 to full caliber down.

Sort brass into + or - .5 grain increments. Sort out the odd balls once you find your load by shooting over chronograph.

Make sure to warm up barrel first.

I shoot moly and now Tungsten. Expect 2000 rounds before toast.

RHINOUT!

Hi Rhinout, Thanks for your suggestions, but I already have the
the powder and sierra heads.
Regards, Derrick.
