6,5x55 cartridge guide?

This has probably been talked about before but are there any plans to put together an 6,5x55 Swedish Mauser cartridge guide?
Probably not amongst the top competition rounds in the US but has an almost 120 years history in Northern Europe as an competition round and is still dominating many shooting sports in Scandinavia and is one of the most succsessful hunting calibers in Europe after all that time!
In my eyes thats a feat not many calibers can beat!
Sure it does not fit well with the trend of short and fat with its long slender case but its hard to argue with its succsess over the decades!

I for one would love to see this old soldier get its own cartridge guide as i love reading all the other guides and have read them all many times :)

Anyhow cheers for this fantastic site, best in the world imo!

I would like to see that guide as well.I have been a fan for 25 years or so and enjoy shooting the cartridge.

I would like to see it also.
I have been deer hunting with a 6.5x55 for the last 15 years and find it great.
Accurate and deadly.

I'd love to see a 6.5x55 guide. I've been looking at it as a round for a bench gun, no hunting, just targets.

I'd like to see more 'modern data' also...

Here's my recent project using Savage Target action

along with 28" Pac Nor Swede 8 twist...1K yd plate slammer...

I for one have great respect for the 6.5 Swede. On a great day at the range a fella brought out a restored 1905, 6.5 Swede. Several of us including my good friend Mike Tuck were able to ping the 800yard gong with this old war horse.

I do support a guide for this venerable cartridge. However, I have always disliked the comparison of European Hunting with American Hunting.

True, a 160gr .264cal (6.5mm) bullet at 75yds is plenty of medicines for a Scandinavian Moose ( cousin to the Roosevelt Elk). My uncle uses 130gr bullets from a .270 Winchester. He now calls it a “pop gun”. He also regularly shoots elk at under 100yrds.

However, today’s hunting conditions while due to environmental conditions or popular conditions have pushed out the average shoot for and elk (again the cousin to the Scandinavian Moose ) to 300 plus yards for freezer meat and 500 plus yards for trophy elk. Remember that it was back in 1941 that Roy Weatherby had his first encounter with an elk that wouldn't go down. I forget the yardage. But it must have been 100 plus yards.

We in America or the North American Continent if you will, have much greater lengths of shoots than our brethren on the European Continent; either by environment or personal choice.

The bottom line is this: you can't compare the 6.5 Swede to any other American cartridge because the hunting on our two continents is different! ;)

What??? You need to shoot 500 yds for trophy elk? I've been to Scandinavia and lived all over the western US and don't think there is really that much difference. You can take long shots or short shots depending on the terrain in both areas. Just last year I had the safety off on a bull that would have scored in the 350-380 range and I was only 152 yards from him at that point (couldn't get a clean shot so I passed) At one time I was within 35 yards of that bull (and two other 6pt bulls) but the cover was so thick you couldn't even seed them. If anything, shooting elk is more of a close cover game now than in the past. Let's not forget that they used to be a plains animal and prosper in open environments; where they are really easy to hunt. "300 plus yards for freezer meat and 500 plus yards for trophy elk". Nope, not even. And by the way, Scandinavian moose (genus Alces) are no closer relative to elk (genus Cervus) than any other member of the Cervidae family. Different sub family even. And lastly, the 6.5x55 and 260 Rem are really close when loaded with the same bullets to the same pressures. The slightly greater case capacity of the 6.5x55 would give it a few fps edge all other things being equal.

Glo i didnt mean it to be US vs EU cartridge wise, i like em all and to be honest my new 6,5x55 is the first rifle i have owned thats not in an US chambering.
In my mind the designers of this caliber simply hit the nail and to do that well over a century ago deserves some recognition especially as it is as popular as it is in this part of the world.
