6.5x47L Starting Loads for 123g Matchkings

Has anyone been shooting 123g Matchkings with the 6.5x47L? I'm looking for some starting data for this combo. I currently have H4350 on hand and will probably try RL-15 next.

It's Barnard actioned rifle with a 30' 1-8 twist barrel.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt: I am shooting 123 Lapua's in my 6.5x47 with 37.2g R15, BR4 pri with great results in F-class at 1000y. Barrel is a Krieger 29' 1-8.5 twist HV.

Thanks. I was thinking about starting around 35g and working my way up. If I could get them, I would start with BR4 primers but I can't find any. I actually don't have any small rifle primers on hand...but luckily a friend has some to spare.

I want to try the 123g scenar's and the 130g bergers after I see what I can get out of the matchkings. Initial loads will be for 600 yards but I'll be working on 1000 yard loads after that.

My barrel is a medium palma krieger. Just got it put together this week and haven't had a chance to put a round thru it yet. I'm really looking forward to seeing what it will do. My first true custom rifle.

Thanks again,
Matt

I'm pushing Sierra 123's behind 41 grains of H4350 in bench prepped Lapua brass sparked by cci br4's in a F-class/tac rifle. Rifle is built on a Remington 700 action with Lilja 1 in 8.5' twist barrel. It groups consistently inch at three hundred yards if I do my part. Hope this helps.

I'm using 39 gr of N540,safe in my rifle) in a 25 inch Bartlein and getting 2950 fps.

I have also used N140 and RL-15 with the 123 SMK's and both shot well.

123grain scenars, 38.6g re 15,,
cci 450 mag primers,
Same load for the 123 smk,

H4350 41.8g, same primer and bullet as above,,

Just shot a new UKBRA record with the above load,, 2.225" at 600yrds

Hope this helps,,, Darrel

thank goodness your not making it an
ackley Improved or a 6X47.
There's some good testing info on this sight.
Today I shot what was already on this forum. 123 grain Lapua, 37.5 RL-15, russian primed, at 600 yards with scope prone.
Score 599-34. Hightest score ever. Highest score with the 6.5x47.
Proven round, proven load. Its all good.
Ben ;)
