6.5x47L, 22 in barrel, 130 Berger, varget questions

I'm shooting a:
6.5x47 lapua built on a stiller tac 30
22 inch rem varmint Kreiger barrel
130 Berger jammed over 37.5 varget at 2812 fps

The gun shoots very well.... No complaints on that

My question is what type of round count to expect using varget as opposed to h4350 or rel 17.

The gun is used for hunting as well as tactical shoots.

My thinking is the varget may be the best choice due to the "short" barrel?

What are your opinions?

You are on the right track and you should get north of 2500 rounds.. Excellent choice... By the way, I have a Varget load for mine>>> and it's exactly the same as yours!

Great cartridge that's easy on barrels. I shoot 37.5gr of Varget under 123gr Scenars or 38.0gr of RL15. Both shoot amazing.

If you've access to VV N-550 give it a try , I built a 6.5x47 on an 8twist and although I primarily shoot 140 class bullets , I have ran 130's down it and was extremely impressed with the velocities I was obtaining out of a 26" pipe... Prior to that I was putting barrel makers children through college shooting a 6.5x284 and I would never go back.

Hyde, I shoot N-540 out of my 6.5X47, which is strictly a hunting rig. It is a trued Rem 700 with a 1in8 twist Kreiger barrel and a kiff bolt in a Brown precision stock. My go to load for my 24" bbl is 38.7Gr's of N-540 behind a 130 Gr. Berger Hunting Vld. Molyed. It shoots better than Rl 15 and H-4350 at the longer ranges.(least amount of vertical). Since Varget is slightly faster burning, I think you may have made the best choice. I would try N-540 if you have some or have a friend that will let you have enough to load 10 rounds, othrewise, stick with the Varget. Depending on the rate that you shoot, I think 2000+ rounds is not a problem.
