6.5x47 to 6 Dasher????

Why couldn`t you just use 6.5x47 lapua brass and push the shoulder back .227 trim to the length you want and fire form?????

I`m probably missing something here, so what am I overlooking????????

If you're used to forming wild-cat cases, it should be pretty simple. If you haven't much experience at it, you may find it more trouble than it's worth. You'll probably obtain the best results with a set of "Skip Otto" type case-forming dies, or something similar - even a shortened .308 Win. die - which set the shoulders back and necks-down, in steps, and with a much shallower angle - about 20 Deg. - than the finished DASHER shoulder. With decent form dies, or sensibly shortened FL dies, it's a simple procedure. I prefer this to the, "blowing-out" method(s). RG

Too expensive to use 6.5x47 brass. Use palma 308 brass instead. Still has the small primer pocket and flash hole. I've really thought about making a long neck dasher. If you look up 6mm prancer on this forum you'll find some info on it.

I don't know why you would use anything but Lapua 6BR. The first BR's were made from 308 BR brass. You don't have to do that now. The Lapua 6BR brass is what makes the BR and BR IMP into what they are. It can't be more simple than, loading a bullet and firing it.

They are thinking Dasher with a long neck. A lot easier on throat. After you shoot 10 sighters and then dump 10 records down the tube in 12 to 25 seconds the throat takes a beating. I've had 2 Dashers go. One with 325 rounds and another just shy of 500. Scotts record breaking Dasher did the same. I think with a longer neck this would extend the life of the barrels. Matt

It's not the shortcomings of the shorter neck but the rapid rate of fire that does it. Even in F-Class, with a fast target puller, shooting every 15-20 seconds for a 15 or 20 shot string does nasty things to throats.

I couldn't remember what it was called but after looking it up on the internet I found it. The turbulence point. When the turbulence point is not within the first 1/2 or so of the case neck it gets real hard on barrels. That's why a 6MM REM. even though it is shooting more powder and faster velocity will outlast a 243 WIN. Matt
