6.5x47 should I buy used or build my own

My Delma is such buil or buy used can build one for 3GS or do u think it would b better to buy used with a higher round count just starting to shoot long range and like the round thx for ur input

my 6.5 was my first custom, and I had fun getting it all together. picking out the action barrel and stock I wanted just for my rifle. that's one side. the other is of you want to get shooting right away, start looking for used.

My first real bench rest rifle is also a 6.5x47L and I did not see many available used and none set up the way I wanted it. So I had some fun deciding on how I wanted it built and then tracking down the parts, the only one taking any time being the 14 weeks to get a Jim Borden action.

Also, it seemed that what I did see used had prices (at least asking prices) not that far off the cost to put one together new. The exception where ones with high round count that would have meant a new barrel, new chambering and new installation.

Doyle Anglin has now built two rifles for me and he was fast and had good prices and had come highly recommended.

Not sure where you are, but over the winter is a good time to build for me as here it is not that much fun shooting outside in the cold.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Like said, finding a used one that suits you not always easy.
But in my personal experience, my first build wasn't what I really needed either, and being a slow learner, I think I've built 2 more that I shot 500rds through, and ended up re-barreling and restocking.
So either way, make sure it's what you want upfront, you don't make money on used gun parts.

That for the input found one for 4gs talked down to 3700 so far can build one for 3200just might go new sound like it would b more fun to make

Cougar if you have the money I'd suggest building one yourself. Outside of this forum I've seen so many overpriced mediocre guns go for a lot more money than they are worth just because it has a custom barrel or a decent stock all the sudden they think they have a 2k+ gun. You can build a monster of gun for 3K (without optics) especially if you have some of the advice of the people on here. This way you can get exactly what you want, spec'd how you want and you will not be far off from somewhere else buying used. Sometimes you might have to wait, but if you snoop enough many times you can find what you are looking for new off the shelf.

There will be many questions you have throughout your build but these good guys on here would help you. Thats what I would do, FWIW.

PS even with a good sightron, eliseo chassis, trued 700, new good custom barrel thats only about 3k and a very good long range hammer and thats including optics. .. .. just sayin'

One thing I've learned...no one sells an awesome shooting gun (there are a few but very few, if they do come up for sale they're bought by their buddies). So find one that has the stock, trigger and action you want and make a good deal on it with the plans to rebarrel to the 6.5 you want. You can save some money this way but the challenge is finding the config you want and someone who is willing to make you a deal, knowing that you're going to tear it apart and don't put any value on the barrel or chambering costs.

Good luck.
