6.5x47 repeater?...

Since the case head of this round is the same as a 308, would it not be made to reason that this should feed well from a magazine? If any of you have some insight to this as it pertains to an AICS mag, please advise. I'm thinking to try this round in a Surgeon repeater with an AICS stock. Thanks- Duke Durham

My 6.5X47L is up & shooting & should have the BO bottom metal put on this upcoming week. Loaded rounds fit in the AI magazines perfectly and looks like they will feed with no problems.

Having one built also on a Predator repeater action, early stages right now. Won't be done till late Spring.

If you that are having rifles built don't mind, would you share the specifics? Comparison shopping you might say. Thanks all, Duke

dukedurham: Like I said, just starting the build but this is what I have so far;
Predator short action
Shilen #5.5 barrel to be finished at 26", 8" twist
Jewel HVR trigger
Stiller picatinny rail
PTG reamer, no-turn neck at .293 and .098 free bore
Still haven't decided on the stock, leaning to either a McMillan HTG, A3 or the Manners MCS-T, anyone have experience with Manners?
Stiller is providing the bottom metal and magazine, they have them on order, don't know what they are though.

A friend of mine who happens to live in France,nobody's perfect) had PGM, a french company, chamber an Ultima Ratio Tactical Rifle for the 6.5X47 Lapua as a special order, last July. The magazine is designed to accept the .308 cartridge so there's plenty of room to fit a 6.5 Lapua round loaded with a Berger or a JLK VLD. PGM's barrels are made by Lothar Walther, the one on the photo is 25" long.

dukedurham,
My build started out as a Savage Model FP10LE2 which is basically their .308 26" LE offering with AccuTrigger and a McMillan A3 stock. Right now I'm waiting for Border Barrels to finish a 28" 5R cut rifled barrel with a straight taper from 1.055" at the breach down to .875" at the muzzle. It's being chambered with a PT&G no neck turn reamer. I asked JR at Border to throat it for the 123gr. Scenar at .010" into the lands but to leave me enough to chase the lands with the bullet as the throat wears. I'm trusting him to determine the optimum twist, but it will be around 1/9 or thereabouts.

I will install the barrel myself and use a SSS recoil lug and bed the action with ProBed 2000. Scope base is a 20MOA Warne Picatinny rail, scope is a Leupold MK4 M1 10X boosted to 16X by Ackerman with a fine crosshair reticle. I will keep the AccuTrigger for the time being. I've gotten used to it, and it breaks cleanly at just under 2 lbs. This is not a benchrest gun.

I presently have all of the components on hand, except for the barrel which is due by March, and the scope which is at Ackermans and should be back to me in about three weeks.

Already have the brass, bullets, primers, powder, dies, headspace guages, etc. I'm rarin' to go :D
