6.5x47 primer choice

I used Wolf Small Rifle Magnum. They gave me lower SD & ES that others. Shot 205's, 450's and BR-4's. They were all good.

There seems to be a big following of CCI-450 Mag primers amongst the target shooters.
I use Fed Match happily and haven't felt the need to change.

If you've got an action with a lot of clearance between the firing pin and the bolt, there are definitely brands which are more at risk of piercing primers at the high pressures this chambering runs at.

I think you'll need to test with your choice of powder and bullets. For someone with a factory action and non-bushed firing pin, I suggest starting with the CCI 450s as they have a very hard cup that won't crater as easily as the Federals. This is beneficial if you run the 6.5x47 at stout pressures. With a true benchrest type action you can often get away with the softer primers.

Concur, I use Wolf SRM on both my 6.5x47L's, one is a centerfeed Savage and one is a Stiller (actually I use the same load, even though they were cut with different reamers and have different freebores). Both have the smaller firing pin.

The Wolf primers are very good in price, dependability and construction. They are just as tuff as the the 450's and produce low numbers. They the only primers that I will ever use.

Pressure. Standard primers will flatten out and or pierce. Makes you think you are over loaded when its only weak primer cups. Magnum cups are thicker.
