6.5x47 Lapua Questions?

Small Rifle Primer? - I seem to remember that David Tubb said that when he was developing the 6XC he went with the large rifle primer because he believed that you needed the LR primer with more than 35 grains of powder. With the success of the 6.5x47 and the 6-6.5x47 using the Small Rifle primer, this statement may not be correct.
But how does the small rifle primer and 39.0 grains of RL-15 work in the cold at 0 degree F or -20 C?
Also will the 6.5x47 Lapua work in a bolt action repeater as the 6XC will? Can you rebarrel a old 308 Rem 700 SA to 6.5x47 Lapua and the magazine will work without modification?

Thanks, Jay

I have shot RL15,37-38 gr) at 40-50 degrees and didn't have any problems:)to answer the question about zero degrees, well,i seriously doubtI would even be shooting my match rifles in that cold weather, probably more like my 300WSM and hunting.

Matt - Up here in the Great White North, where 5 months of the year it is below 32F, we have learned to shoot in all conditions or we don't shoot.
I remember stories about ignition problems with the special run of Remington 308 Win's with small rifles primers.
Also in my 6BR with RL-15 I get a 100 fps drop when the temp goes from 20C to 0C.

I certainly read Lapua's intentions that way, but confirmation is always good. I would say that the popularity of the 6.5x47L for hunting depends upon the answer being yes.

I am also wondering how the small rifle primer will do in the cold. I was looking at this round as a great coyote round and trust me its damn cold when were calling.

I had some of the small primered 308 brass and when it got cold in the fall or spring I remember pulling the trigger and hearing the firing pin hit then have the rifle go "Bang" sort of nerve racking if you know what I mean.

I talked to my smith and he has built a bunch of the 6mm 6.5x47s and said they are really doing great at 600yds. He claims they shoot better than the 6XCs but he is also using a 35 degree shoulder on his.
