6.5x47 Lapua - preferred barrel maker/length/twist rate?

Hi,

I'm getting interested in long-distance shooting (500-1000m), and have decided to piece together a rifle to start with. I picked up a Savage FCP (the one with the Choate stock) in .308. I'm going to shoot it as-is for a while, since I already have a lot of 308 reloading gear. That said, I purchased a Savage specifically for the ease in changing out barrels, as I'd like to try 6.5x47. I'm a big fan of 6.5x55, so it's a natural fit. I'm looking for a pre-fit barrel so I can do the work myself.

I'm curious what people are finding is the best overall barrel length/twist rate for this cartridge? Any preferred makers? I've got other rifles I use for hunting, this is going to be more of a range-toy (but not a full blown 15 kilo bench gun, either).

Also, I'm a big fan of Varget's temperature stability. Does this powder work well in 6.5x47? I've only seen one recipe that utilized Varget, and I prefer to work off multiple data points for safety. Thank you in advance!

Heaps of choice in good barrels but I'd suggest you go at least 26" if you're keen on 1000yds, and 30" isn't unreasonable.

Yes, Varget works fine, at least with the 123 Scenars I shoot in mine. 38gr is giving 2945 av vel and single digit ES out of a 27" Shilen. No sign of pressure at all with 38.6grs but the usual warnings apply.. Very accurate cartridge- second group a 30cal hole at 100yds.
