6.5x47 lapua freebore

That depends on the 139-142 class projectiles you plan on using. A Berger 140LRBT has a very short bearing surface, about the same as their 130VLD! Conversely, a 139 Scenar has an extremely long bearing surface, as all Scenars do. The 142 SMK has a long bearing surface too, close to the 139 Scenar. A very good "compromise freebore" would be .170.. However, if you want to shoot the EXCELLENT 140LRBT, and you want to use it for the entire lifespan of a barrel, a .145 freebore is best. On the other hand, should you choose the 139 Scenar, a .200 freebore would be desirable. Everything else in the middle would be served by a .170-.175 freebore..

Well I will check the freebore on my reamer I am thinking it's .137 freebore 142 smk touching the lands I am crowding the donut area I am thinking of letting it out about 30 thousands.

I have always liked 140 lrbt class bullet but my personal opinion Berger bullets move to its new plant is going to hurt bullet production my distributer is not getting a lot of 6.5 class bullets to choose from in the Berger line right now.

Stan, somewhere in the bowels of these forums is a photo I took of a 6.5x47 loaded with 130 Berger VLDs with a .140 freebore. The pressure ring was just above the donut area.
Thanks here is a pic of my new foregoing project a wheeleraccuracy LRB stock with the rudder an I fit 3 barrels a 7- 7.5- 8 twist barrels for it going to get serious for next year.
